Camocuatla, Puebla, Mexico is a Totonacan town. Traditional attire has all but disappeared except for the seniors in the town. During festivals the younger generation wears the costume but on a day to day basis they use western clothing. ©Robert Freund 2007 12/24/2007

It is hard to describe the hole that Camocuatla is in. The new road went to the town in a steep downward spiral. It took about 20 minutes to get to the town. It would be hard to imagine what it was like before this paved road finally made it down to the town. There were a number of women dressed in traditional clothing and after speaking to a town authority I went off to find a family of embroiderers.

Rosa was not wearing traditional clothing but did make the blouses fro resale. Her neighbor came over and was a young woman dressed in a blouse that she had made, which in my mind made it special. It was a cross stitched piece she also wore the white skirt and Totonacan belt.
